Carp Tips.
The plain old maggot used to be the most deadly and effective method of catching a good sized carp. However the development of synthetic and other specialised carp baits has lead to the myth that these are now the most effective way of catching carp.
This is just a myth however as maggots attract every other fish under the water as well as carp the angler must present the fish with a real mouthful of maggots to deter the other species of fish from taking your bait. There are on the market specialised clips which enable the angler to present dozens of lovely wriggly maggots at a time

Stop your biscuits coming off the line by cutting a shallow groove down one edge of the bait and super glue it to the hook

When stalking carp you need to be mobile therefore it is advisable to get the best utility belt around and that belt will be the one with the most pockets!
Over Fished.
Because of the sport and the thrill of hooking carp that can grow to huge sizes then many good carp waters become popular venues and the fish become used to baiting techniques and being caught and become very wiley and difficult to catch.
One way of trying to catch that big prize fish is to try night fishing baiting from dusk onwards and using glow in the dark rod tips. This type of carp fishing can be very rewarding but you need to go prepared with torches and head lights and at any other time other than summer some warm clothing to avoid the on set of hyperthermia!!

When fishing waters with dense vegetation and alot of lillies and reeds then it is advisable to use a telescopic landing net instead of a large fixed net which will give you greater movability

Be prepared to get wet carp love bolting for undergrowth and reeds to gain better angles to encourage them out you may have to get in with the fish

When trying to catch your quarry off the top be prepared for a long wait and be prepared to bait the water extensively and for a number of hours before you see any sign of action, the old addage of paitence is a virtue cetainly applies to carp fishing but it is worth the wait as the rewards can be great
