Ignore scum bubbles and fizzy short lived bubbles what you are looking for are a cluster of bubbles which the tench produce though its gills. The best thing is identify these bubbles and you know your tench is feeding as these bubbles are produced when the fish is eating!

When spotting the difference between a male and female tench this is reasonably easy the male is slightly smaller darker in colour and it has a crinkly pelvic fins check out the crinkle and you have a male
