Catfish Tips.
Catfish are big very big. The Wels catfish can grow to in excess of 100lbs. Where are these monsters well try Europe there are many fisheries that stock these monsters and they are great fun.
But in comparison the Wels are babies compared to the Mekong Catfish. These kittens can be commonly 600lbs in weight but are thought to grow to 100lb! So head to Thailand for the biggest catfish challenge.
The fisheries in Thailand are commonly stocked with fish weighing 200lb plus.

As well as using dead baits such as offal and heads try using whole squid and also ten inch live baits these can prove deadly

Catfish love the dark so go hunting for these beasts under dense overhanging trees or bushes where the water is quite deep

Catfish grow to huge proportions.
To catch this monster fish you need an unusual bait and the bloodier the better. Heads are good chicken heads pigeon pheasant seagull whatever if you know someone who shoots and obviously the heads are usually disgarded then take them heads and use them as bait. You can freeze these too and then you have a stock to use until the next shooting season comes round. Livers too nice bloody livers and hearts try these the blood really attracts the catfish.

At night the catfish love to come in close to the bank to eat so remember when casting try casting a bait only a few yards from the bank and set your rods well back because of this
