When going chubbing because these are a cunning fish and need in effect stalking then you need so kit to make this process more comfortable and easier.
Invest in some polaroid glasses they help in less than bright conditions to spot the fish.
Also because you will be probably be creeping through undergrowth and will be more than likely wet wear some light weight water proofs. This will stop you getting wet and you will be able to concentrate on finding your quarry instead of taking notice of how wet and cold you are getting! Practice this by stalking rabbits creep up on them and get as close as you can. When you can do this without spooking the rabbits then you are ready to go chubbing.
Dont speak and keep low cast a shadow and the chub will see you these fish are cunning but are worth the effort.

Try live baits. It is not uncommon for chub to be caught on small live baits intended for the likes of pike and zander

Also try fly fishing in the summer chub are known to fall to nymphs and when watching the fly remember to strike at any unusal movements

Chub are suckers for bread but can become suspicious of this type of bait so if you have no success using bread try biscuits instead
